Iserbito and Alvarado Take Early Lead in Super Prestige Series

Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal) and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Corendon-Circus) won the Telenet Superprestige won their respective elite men's and women's races in the opening round of the cyclocross series, taking the lead early in the eight-round competition.

Iserbyt beat the rival Telenet Baloise Lions trio in the elite men's race and they were led home by Quinten Hermans 17 seconds off the Belgian pace, with Corne Van Kessel and Lars Van der Haar finished third and fourth, 43 seconds behind.

The elite women's race was won by 21-year-old Alvarado, the under-23 European cyclo-cross champion, who beat world champion Sanne Canto (IKO-Crelan) by 55 seconds, with Yara Kastelin (777) finishing another 11 seconds behind.

Road race world champion Annemiek van Fruten (Mitchelton-Scott) also raced, but only finished 36th, well off the pace of the leaders.
