For Audrey Cordon-Lago (Trek-Segafredo), the Plouët GP is a home race. The finish line in Plouët is less than 70 km from her home in Ludac, so the Breton rider was very ambitious from the start. Cordon-Lago was part of an 11-strong group that broke away on the Côtes du Moulin with 59km to go, gaining up to 30 seconds on the peloton. More riders bridged to the front on the Ty Marek climb and the group stopped working. A lap later, Cordon-Lago again chose the front on the Côte du Moulin. This time the lead group had 19 riders, but the peloton never went far and caught them 5km later. Lucy Kennedy (Mitchelton-Scott) attacked on the Côte de Tai Marec on the final lap, and Eri Yonamine (Ale Cipollini) on the flat after the top of the climb. Yonamine's attack temporarily broke away from the seven-man breakaway, and when the gap closed again, Cordon-Lago counter-attacked with 16km to go. However, the peloton, led by Katie Hall (Boels-Dolmans), began to chase. Cordón-Lago was one of the riders chasing hard in the peloton behind when winner Anna van der Breggen (Boels Dolmans) attacked on the final lap. This was in support of American champion Ruth Winder, whose team was also rooting for a result. Van der Breggen went on to win the race single-handedly, while Winder finished in ninth place. Cordon-Lago accepted the decision, but after the race he expressed his frustration at not having the full support of his team. Cordon-Lago told the French newspaper Le Télégramme: "I've been working hard all week," Cordon-Lago said. I tested myself on the Cadoudal climb during the week.
