Shirin van Unrooy extends her contract with Ridle Trek through 2026.

Promising young Dutch racer Shirin van Anrooy was forced to end the 2023-2024 cyclocross season early due to injury, but the Lidl Trek racer nonetheless extended his contract with his current team this week until the end of 2026.

"Shirin will continue to proudly represent Lidl Trek on the road and Baloise Trek Lions when competing in cyclocross," the team said in a press release confirming the news.

Juan Anroy, who has been a member of Lidl Trek since 2020, took his first professional win at last year's Trofeo Alfredo Binda - Comune di Cittiglio. He followed that up with a third place in Amstel Gold and a strong performance in the Vuelta a Burgos on the climb of Lagunas de Neira, which earned him second place overall.

Then, after finishing the Giro Donne, he won the Tour de l'Avignille Femme, and although his current cyclo-cross campaign was interrupted by a fall and broken rib, van Anlooy is clearly highly motivated for the upcoming road season.

"Honestly, the decision to stay with the team was very easy. I don't think I had to make any decisions, just sign the contract," van Ambrooy said in a team press release.

Noting the opportunity to learn from experienced riders like Lizzie Deignan and Elisa Longo Borghini, van Anlooy added, "Looking back on last year, many pieces of the puzzle came together in the classics and I was able to win my first World Tour race at the Trofeo Vinda I was able to win my first World Tour race at the Trofeo Binda. I can't imagine racing in another team's jersey."

Ina Twittenberg, DS of Lidl-Trek, added: "I am very proud of Ina. She has a very high potential and is a smart lady who takes advice in stride and absorbs experience from those around her."

Wanting to keep things steady in 2024 - "I want to continue my development without skipping steps" - and eager to support her teammates as much as possible, van Anlooy said that both the Classics and GC will be her stage races in 2024. She said that she will target both the Classics and the GC in the 2024 stage races. She added, "My dream is to be on the GC podium in the Grand Tours."
