Uno X Mobility and Total Energies to be Wild Cards for 2024 Tour de France

Organizers of the 2024 Tour de France have given wild cards to Uno-X Mobility and Total Energy, two professional teams completing the 22-team peloton.

Eighteen WorldTour teams will receive automatic invitations to the biggest races of the season. The top two UCI ranked teams for 2023, Israel Premier Tech and the Lotto Doustony Pro Team, will also receive automatic invitations.

Tudor Pro Cycling and Q36.5 missed out on the Tour de France, but the Swiss pro team was invited to Paris-Nice this year, and Q36.5 has qualified for the upcoming Criterium du Dauphiné.

The 2024 Tour de France will start in Florence on Saturday, June 29, with three stages in Italy before entering France. Due to the Paris Olympics, the Tour de France will finish in Nice instead of the capital on July 21.

The route of the world's largest race covers 3,492 km and includes two individual time trials, four mountain finishes, a gravel section on stage 9, and a final hilly time trial to Nice.

The official route was announced at a special ceremony in Paris on October 25.

Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) will defend his title against Tadej Pogachar (UAE Team Emirates), who won his second GC title last year and will also compete in the Giro d'Italia. Vingegaard will likely face a big challenge from Remco Evenpole (Sudar-Quick Step) and his former teammate and rival Primoš Roglic (Bora-Hansgrohe).

This is the second consecutive season that Uno-X has received a wild card for the Tour de France.

"To be invited to the Tour de France for the second year in a row is a great recognition," said Uno-X Mobility team manager Jens Haugland in his quick reaction to the invitation.

"The expectations leading up to today's invitation were immense and we are now filled with gratitude and pride. I am very happy that the success of our team last year has earned us this new invitation"

.
