Indoor Cycling App Becomes Official Partner of Outdoor UCI Road World Championships

MyWhoosh, the fastest-growing indoor cycling app, today announced that it will become an official partner of the UCI's Outdoor Road World Championships in a deal spanning the next three editions.

Founded in 2019 by Emirati businessman Akhtar Saeed Hashmi, the MyWhoosh brand will offer free subscriptions, huge real-money prize money for online races (the prize pool for a recent race was $1 million), and a UAE Team The company's ongoing partnership with the Emirates World Tour Team has forced its entry into the indoor cycling space.

The company's board of directors includes Mauro Gianetti, CEO and team principal of UAE Team Emirates.

Among various other intangibles, the deal will give the app exclusive rights to offer the course from the Road World Championship events, just as Yorkshire was available as a Zwift course and Leuven was available to RGT before it was closed.

According to Hashmi, this means that MyWhoosh users will be able to run "their own UCI Road World Championships" on the app. He also expects that "many professional racers will undoubtedly test themselves on the virtual course before the Zurich, Kigali, and Montreal competitions."

Since the deal runs from 2024 to 2026, the three events covered are the 2024 Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, the 2025 Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, which will be held for the first time in Africa, and the 2026 The championships will be held in Montreal, Canada.

Surprisingly, the deal ends two years before the Road World Championships visit Abu Dhabi, where Maiouche was founded and is headquartered. Of course, there is nothing to suggest that this contract will not be extended beyond 2026 at a later date.

This announcement is something of a sequel for Maiusch, which just a few months ago won the same 2024-2026 indoor world championship. This means that the officially named UCI eSport World Championships will be held on the MyWoosh platform, rather than on Zwift, which has hosted the race since 2020.

It has not been confirmed whether MyWhoosh will be an additional official partner or replace one of the existing brands, but given that the partners for the UCI World Championships in Glasgow were BigMat, Mapei, Santini and Zwift Given that this is also the field that MyWhoosh will take over from Zwift, it seems likely that this is another field that MyWhoosh will take over from Zwift.

"Abu Dhabi hosted the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in 2022 with great success. Abu Dhabi will host this event again in 2024, followed by the UCI Road World Championships and UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2028, and the UCI Track World Championships in 2029." By hosting these various events, Abu Dhabi will be positioned more than ever as a major venue for cycling and a world-renowned cycling hub."

The UCI World Championships will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2024, and the UCI Road World Championships in 2028, and the UCI Track World Championships in 2029.
